GMDA to Mend 4.6km Stretch in Gurgaon that Connects Pataudi Road near Sector 89
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) is currently reconstructing a 4.6km long stretch that connects National Highway 48 at Vatika flyover in Manesar to Pataudi Road located near Sector 89.This construction work will help people coming from Delhi to avoid heavy congestion at the Kherki Daula toll plaza. Reports suggest that the work is expected to get completed in the next six months.
It is estimated that the total reconstruction cost is going to be ₹13.36 crore. The reconstruction work was inaugurated by local MLA Mr. Rakesh Daultabad at the moment where all GMDA officials were present.
Jaspal Singh, chief engineer (infrastructure-1 division), GMDA said “GMDA is reconstructing important stretches wherever there is a need for it. We have taken up the work of reconstructing the 4.6km stretch on priority so that even heavy vehicles can play on it. We are aiming to complete the project before August this year.”
The stretch will benefit the residents living at the 15 condominiums and 3 villages located in sectors 82-85 and 88-89. Moreover, a significant reduction in travel time will be seen for commuters coming from Jaipur and heading towards Delhi on the national highway or Dwarka Expressway. These commuters will then easily bypass the congestion at the Kherki Daula toll by turning left just below the Vatika flyover. They can then use this 4.6km stretch to move towards Dwarka Expressway, and West Delhi.
Apart from reconstructing this pothole-ridden stretch, the GMDA also plans to repair footpaths, stormwater drains, and install signboards as part of its reconstruction endeavour. As per road safety measures, the GMDA would also install cat-eyes, reflective road studs, and bollards along the stretch.
This stretch is locally recognized as a section that decides sectors 82A/83, 82/83, 84/85 and 88/89. Even though it connects Vatika flyover to sector 89, there is around 100 metres of the stretch that offers direct connectivity with Pataudi Road is missing from the prototype.
It was noted that the potholes on the stretch are 4-6 inches deep that need a dire repair.
Dharam Veer Singh, a resident of Mapsko Casabella says “Once GMDA repairs and links the entire stretch to Pataudi Road, the road will not just provide connectivity with Dwarka Expressway and the Western Peripheral Highway on the other end but also help develop the area in general and increase occupancy in condominiums. Repairing the potholes will also help prevent road accidents,”.
