In 4 weeks, Haryana RERA receives over 500 applications from builders

In 4 weeks, Haryana RERA receives over 500 applications from builders

The Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority has received more than 500 applications from builders for registration of their projects in the last four weeks after the state government implemented the Haryana Real Estate Regulation Act (H-RERA).

The Authority has also received over 100 complaints from aggrieved homebuyers.

However, out of 500-plus applications, only 90 projects have been registered with the Authority in the last four weeks, officials said.

Some 150 real estate agents have also been registered with the Authority.

“We have also received more than 100 complaints from homebuyers. But we have only taken cognizance of only one complaint as it was registered in the required format. We have not been able to process the remaining complaints,” Dilbagh Singh Sihag, who is a part of the state RERA committee, told TOI on Friday.

Sihag has appealed to homebuyers to follow the procedure mentioned in the H-RERA rules for filing any complaint against developers.

“Mentioning only two sentences about the issue does not give us any idea of the history of the case. Hence the buyers must stick to the complaint form as mentioned in the state RERA rules,” said Sihag.

It must be noted that the cases which are already listed in courts will not come under the ambit of the Authority.

The state RERA rules mention that any aggrieved person can file a complaint with the Authority for any violation of the provisions of the Act in a form (as mentioned in annexures of the Act) along with a fee of Rs 1,000 in the form of a demand draft or a bankers cheque drawn on a scheduled bank in favour of the Authority.

Talking about the date for the launch of the H-RERA website, the official said it will take at least another three months for the government to roll it out.

The chief minister had earlier announced that Haryana will have two RERA authorities, one in Panchkula and the other in Gurgaon. Even though there is not much information available on the timeline for the constitution of the authority in Gurgaon, the work on the division of geography and jurisdiction is under way, said sources.

Sihag, who was in the city to for a conference on RERA, said, “The state government has tried its best to maintain the balance in rolling out RERA rules so that they benefit both the buyers and developers.”

The state government had notified H- RERA on July 28 and has been at the receiving end of buyers’ fraternity since then for diluting the national RERA.
