Huda plans fly over to de congest traffic flow near Huda City Centre
Traffic flow on the road b et weenHuda City Centre Metro station and Fortis Hospital is expected to be streamlined soon as the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) is working on a plan to construct an elevated road or a flyover to divert traffic.
The road or flyover is likely to come up between Sushant Lok and Subhash Chowk.
A consultant has been appointed by Huda to assess the feasibility of the proposal by May 15, after which a tender is likely to be floated.
The two junctions — one towards Sushant Lok and the other towards South City— that are hardly 100metres apart have emerged as massive traffic bottlenecks in the last three years.
Those moving from Galleria Market can either move towards Artemis Hospital or Subhash Chowk and have to pass either of the two bottlenecks, which increases travel time and causes jams.
Similarly, the traffic from Sub hash C ho wk and from Signature Tower( NH -8) converges at the junction near South City and move towards the second bottleneck that is 100 meters away, causing snarls through the day.
“Traffic situation at the two junctions has worsened due to unauthorized parking of autorickshaws, cabs and vendors,” said SS Rai, a resident of Sushant Lok.
“The city traffic police has failed to rein them in. We hope that the flyover will put an end to the traffic chaos,” Rai added.
Vikas Gupta, chief administrator of Huda, said, “We are expecting the flyover in that direction ( Sushant Lok to Subash Chowk) but unless we get the feasibility report, it is difficult to guess.”
“In the feasibility report, the traffic volume with directions and availability of land for construction of flyover will be assessed to determine the direction,” he added.
He was visiting Gurgaon on Tuesday to attend the inauguration of Rapid Metro South Extension, also known as Phase 2 of the Rapid Metro, with chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday.
“We have appointed a consultant and we will work on it a priority basis. Soon after the feasibility report is filed, we will float a tender to appoint a contractor to start construction within a month or a maximum of two,” the chief administrator added.
